Bancal con especies adaptadas
An ample and noisy garden
In this home, the noise from the nearby highway sounded as if it were 10 meters away. The client needed a green screen to reduce the disturbance, but didn’t want to lose the sea views or be confined to the garden.
We offered a design with highly adapted, low-maintenance plants at different heights, so that the views wouldn’t be lost in the frequently used areas.

Preps
It was necessary to remove the paving stones, clear the weeds, remove the weed control netting, and cut the artificial turf. All that inert plastic would give way to living matter.
The choice of species was limited to what could be quickly found at the nursery: Myoporum pictum to form the background of each bed, a Photinia to dress the large bed, and smaller shrubs along the edges, such as lavender, rosemary, callistemon, viburnum, and oleander.
The client preferred a more formal, straight-lined design, so the layout follows these lines and has been oriented according to their ability to withstand the breeze.

Result
To complete the job, some of the stones were reused to create a border to catch leaves and other plant debris that might fall to the ground.
Watering is done with a hose with a sprinkler attachment, since once established, frequent watering won’t be necessary. The work will be completed in the future with solar-powered beacon lighting.

In addition to the front beds, a side hedge with Eugenia myrtifolia was planted, and Cica revoluta was replanted in another side bed.
